Why is event Wi-Fi different from regular business Wi-Fi?

Event Wi-Fi has to deal with three things a normal office never does. The first is scale — hundreds or thousands of devices in a small area, all trying to connect at the same time. The second is location — fields, marquees, listed buildings, places with no existing wired infrastructure. The third is criticality — bar systems, payment terminals, ticket scanners and broadcast feeds all running over the same network, with no second chance if it fails. The kit, the design and the on-site engineering are all different from a typical office deployment.

How many simultaneous users can a typical event setup support?

A small event for two hundred to five hundred concurrent users can usually be served with three to six high-density access points and a dedicated uplink. A festival or larger venue with several thousand concurrent users requires a designed network with multiple back-haul links, segmented user groups, and on-site engineers monitoring in real time. We have delivered both — we plan capacity against your expected attendance, the device mix, and the operational systems that have to run on the network.

We are a small village hall hosting one weekend event. Is this for us?

Yes — small one-off events are exactly the kind of work we cover. The package scales down to a single business-grade router, a 4G or 5G uplink with a directional aerial, and a couple of access points for guest Wi-Fi. We arrive, set up, hand the venue a clear briefing on how to use it, and remove the kit at the end of the event. Pricing is per day so a one-weekend deployment is straightforward to quote.

The venue already has Wi-Fi. Why would we need a separate event setup?

Venue Wi-Fi is typically designed for the building’s normal usage — staff, visitors, occasional guests. It rarely has the capacity or the back-haul to support an event audience plus the live event operations. Running ticket scanners, payment terminals, broadcast feeds and audience devices over the same congested network is where most live event tech failures originate. A dedicated event network keeps the operational systems separate and gives the audience a usable connection too.

How far in advance do we need to book event connectivity?

For a small one-day event we can usually mobilise inside a week. For larger events — festivals, multi-day venues, broadcast requirements — we recommend involving us at least six to eight weeks ahead so site surveys, structured cabling, generator power, fibre installation (where available) and 4G/5G provisioning can all be planned in. Last-minute bookings are possible but they restrict the design choices.

What if the connection drops during a live event?

Our event deployments are designed with dual uplinks — typically a primary fibre or fixed-wireless link plus a 4G or 5G back-up — so a single carrier outage does not take the event off-line. An on-site engineer is present for the duration of larger events with kit, spare aerials and replacement access points to fix issues as they happen. We also share a real-time dashboard with the event organiser so you can see the network’s status without having to ask.
